...so how do i know you're going to leave the country?

Paris.  Oh man, paris.  sooo many things to blog about.

So the train there was cool.  The seats were nice, it wasn't full, and melly and i fell asleep for most of it.  We left at 1:30, got in around 3:30pm [it's an hour ahead of london].  we bought some metro tickets, and went to find our hotel.  The metro there isn't as easy to follow as it is here in london, but it was easy enough to figure out.  The metro trains themselves werent as nice as london, and there was grafitti everywhere!  on the walls of the train tracks, the metro itself, etc.  One thing i did like about the paris metros was the little flip seats they had.  those were fun. We made it to the closest metro stop [place de clichy] to our hotel, and proceeded to walk to the hostel.  A complaint I have about both london and paris:  LABEL YOUR FUCKING STREETS PROPERLY.  like, the signs are almost pointless, cause you can only see them from one side, if at all.  anyway, we made it to the hotel, annnndddd they overbooked for that night.  so the dude sent us to another hotel a street over, and melly and i had to share a bed, but it wasnt that bad.  then we went to grab some dinner.

we walked a big circle until melly and i decided to go to the french equivalent of our burger king or mcdonalds.  melly was not happy when they didnt get her order correctly and just gave her a plain burger, without the cheese!  dun dun dun!  yeah, melly, i can deal with cheese on my burger, you may need to learn to deal with it without.  anyway, she was very pouty, and very much hating this 'non-american' speaking country [yes, at one point, she did shout 'everyone should speak american.' XD]  we then went back to the hotel, watched some noveulle star [their american idol, where everyone sucked] and slept.  unfortunately i slept at 9pm, woke up at 1am, and couldnt go back to sleep til 4am o.O

We had to get up for breakfast, which took place from 730 to 930am.  We went at 730am.  It was set up that we sat down, and someone served us a basket of bread and croissants.  both were really good.  We then went back to sleep for 2ish hours, then checked out to go to the other hostel.  We dropped off our stuff and headed to the lourve.  Holy shit the lourve is big.  Melly and I just wanted around for a few hours [she was in a much better mood today].  We took pictures imitating the poses of statues [see facebook soon for pics].  We saw the mona lisa, which had it's own wall in the middle of the room, but really it's not the greatest painting ever.

After the lourve we walked to notre dame.  en route, we passed like, a bajillion pet shops and plant shops alternating.  i am not exaggerating.  it went:  pet shop, plant shop, pet shop, plant shop, pet shop, plant shop, etc.  I, of course, stopped in almost all the pet shops.  the puppies were so cute~!  one shop had chinchillas.  one of the chinchilla's was all by himself though, in a small tank - it was sad :<.

Okay, notre dame:  wow.  It was so big and pretty inside.  apparently mass still goes on there.  i kinda want to attend someday.  After spending some time recovering from all the walking we did, smelly and i went back to the hotel.  We decided to grab some food from the local supermarket: bread, cheese, chips and soda, and a six pack of kronenbourg.  It tasted like a yeastier version of pabst to me.  We got it cold by leaving it outside on the windowsill~  We drank a little, and watched House in french XD  I passed out, and got up around 8ish to get breakfast.  Breakfast here was the same concept as it was at the other hotel.  Then we went back to the room and slept til like, 12pm.  We left around 1pm to go out and about.

First stop:  arch de triumph.  Its located in the middle of a busy traffic circle, so you have to take an underground tunnel to get to it.  Melly and I could not find it for our life, so we went to the metro station to ask a teller.  Melly asked:  "Excuse me, do you know how to get under [accompanying hand gestures] to the arch de triumph?"  The teller then turns to me and says: "She speaks very good english like i do."  XD  It was funny.  Anyway, arch, very big, very engraved.  there's a museum inside, but we didn't go in cause it cost monies.  We then walked down the champs-elysee, where there are a whole bunchya stores and restaurants and such.  melly wanted a cheeseburger from mcdonalds, but it cost 2.30 euro [rate: 1$ = 1.33 euro].  so yeah, she didn't get a cheeseburger.  Oh, and a quarter pounder really is called a royal XD.  eventually we left and headed to the tour eiffel.

Eiffel tower:  it's prettier in pictures.  in person it's just a bunchya metal.  i mean, it's still cool, but yeah just commenting.  we bought tickets to climb the tower, only to find we could only go about half way up, because to get to the top top we needed to take a lift, which was a different kind of ticket than we bought.  But whatevs, it was still cool, still pretty high - we climbed 700 steps.  My heart never beat that fast, ever.  Oh, whilst a top the eiffel, this random dude asked melly and i to take a picture with him.  We didn't think he was french, another foreign tourist, but it was kinda weird >_>;; After we came back down, we just walked around, enjoyed a baguette, and did some souvenir shopping.  Before we made it to the metro station, we got hustled twice.  The first was nonintentional on our part.  This guy went up to melly and asked her to hold string while he made a bracelet.  It was pretty, but made of string, and he got her to buy it for 5 euros.   She it required now, to love it.  The second one was this guy we passed a couple of times who drew charicatures.  He widdled his price down to 5 euros to draw me and melly.  She made me buy it.  Then we went home.  It doesn't get dark dark there until at least 10pm there @_@ so it's hard to go to sleep.

Random things about Paris I didn't fit in anywhere above:  the keyboards there are weird.  the a,q,w,z, and m keys are all in different places, and . and the numbers are all shifts.  it was interesting to type with them [aka annoying].
Melly kept tripping up.  It was funny.
The bread there is really good.

We woke up at 820am to make breakfast before our train.  We almost missed our train cause we werent sure where to check in, and we kinda sat at the arrival place [my fault].  So yeah, we rushed through check in, but omg i fucking hate UK border patrol.  This bitch was asking all these stupid questions, and she was so mean [and asian].  Maybe they just hate their jobs.  But srsly, i wanted to punch her in the face.  She asked when we were leaving england, then asked to see our e-tickets for the plane.  I was like, i dont have them, cause i didn't think i needed them here, and i didnt want to lose them.  And she was like, so how do i know you're going to leave the country?  Cause i'm not staying in your fucking country forever, bitch.  I jsut said, oh i'm sorry.  Shes like, yeah, you should bring copies, otherwise you could get in trouble.  Ugh.

So yeah, that's paris in a nutshell.  It's kinda a rip off, but pretty.  And now melly needs her compie.  Til next time~
